Donald Trump Pulls Obnoxious Stunt As Canada Elects Its Prime Minister

Image
President Donald Trump hailed his “strength and wisdom” in a wise-ass plea to Canadians to vote for him on their election day  Amid his ceaseless antagonism of the United States’ northern neighbor, Trump made himself the story as Canada goes to the polls to elect a prime minister. His tariffs and annexation threats have certainly become a campaign issue up there, so naturally, he took time out from his legally dubious deportations, recession-tempting global trade war and clumsy peace talks to troll Canada. “Good luck to the Great people of Canada,” he wrote on Truth Social. “Elect the man who has the strength and wisdom to cut your taxes in half, increase your military power, for free, to the highest level in the World, have your Car, Steel, Aluminum, Lumber, Energy, and all other businesses, QUADRUPLE in size, WITH ZERO TARIFFS OR TAXES, if Canada becomes the cherished 51st State of the United States of America. “No more artificially drawn line from many years ago. Look how...

Tesla is in worse shape than you think

Image
Things are undoubtedly bad at Tesla. Its sales are dwindling. Its profits are plunging, as is its share price. There are regular protests outside its showrooms. The Cybertruck is a flop. And somehow, it’s actually a lot worse than that. The 71% drop in net income it just reported may have been overshadowed by CEO Elon Musk ’s announcement that he would be stepping back from his controversial duties at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). But that drop is just one indication of serious financial sickness at the EV maker, problems brought on by falling sales for the first time in its history and falling prices for electric vehicles. The bottom line problem at Tesla is its vanishing bottom line. A deeper look at its first quarter report shows it’s now losing money on what should be its ostensible reason for existence – selling cars. It was only able to post a $409 million profit in the quarter thanks to the sale of $595 million worth of regulatory credits to other automake...

Matthew Tkachuk Played Through Pain Before, Likely is Again

Image
It appears that that the Panthers are going to be dealing with whether Matthew Tkachuk is fully healthy or not every time he steps onto the ice. Tkachuk is a player who would have to be chained to a wall to stay out of the postseason, so, deal with it they will. And, for the most part, Tkachuk looked pretty good on Tuesday night — two months out of action or not. Tkachuk, of course, made his triumphant return to the Panthers in Florida’s 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series. “What was on display were the hands,” coach Paul Maurice said. “Just an incredible set of hands. I thought his game was OK. When you put it into the context of he hasn’t play a game in two months, you or I wouldn’t have any hands in that game. “He can still take that much time off and handle the puck the way he handles it. The rest of it was just smartly played by him in that I don’t think he was in the rhythm of the game.” Said Tkachuk: “There are some plays that...

Rory McIlroy reveals he spoke to two US presidents after his Masters win

Image
Rory McIlroy has a special shine to him as he returns to competitive action this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and who can blame him after finally ending years of heartbreak with victory at the Masters earlier this month. After so many attempts to complete a historic career grand slam – winning all four of golf’s majors – the Northern Irishman finally was able to slip on the famous green jacket and enter himself into the record books. There were emotional scenes in the aftermath of McIlroy’s victory at Augusta National, as the relief of the victory became apparent. And as the 35-year-old returns to golfing action at TPC Louisiana on Thursday, McIlroy detailed the “absolutely amazing” reaction he’s had since his victory. “It’s been an amazing few days after, and to be able to reflect on it and everything that happened and the magnitude of everything, I think the big thing for me is just how the whole journey sort of resonated with people and the people that have reach...

Justin Thomas shows true colours with Rory McIlroy comment after winning RBC Heritage

Image
Justin Thomas likened the relief he felt after claiming the RBC Heritage in his first PGA Tour victory for three years to Rory McIlroy's long-awaited Masters triumph. The American, 31, captured a first Tour win since 2022 on Sunday when narrowly beating Andrew Novak in a one-hole playoff in South Carolina. Despite earning a second PGA Championship in 2022, instead of pushing on, the two-time major winner was unable to build on his success but has finally added more silverware as well as a staggering £2.7million ($3.6m) prize purse. With the monkey off his back, Thomas spoke of the sheer relief he felt after his winning putt and the similarities of his win compared to McIlroy's at Augusta. "It's obviously incredibly different from Rory's situation, but there is a little bit of relief there. This was just the me of old. I was just really patient today," Thomas said, per Jason Sobel of SiriusXM. "It's so hard to force the issue on a course like this. I...

The Porsche 911 GT3 is the fastest road car around the ‘Ring with a manual gearbox

Image
The Porsche 911 GT3 has set yet another lap record, this time at the Nürburgring. The time: 6m 56.294s around the 20.8km loop to become [deep breath] the fastest road car with a manual transmission. Yes, manual gearboxes matter, and they matter deeply to Porsche. Can you feel the sun on your heart, yet? You will now. “More and more 911 GT3 customers are opting for the six-speed manual transmission,” said Porsche’s GT boss Andreas Preuninger. And, he said, more of them want to know how fast a manual-equipped GT3 can blitz around the ‘Ring. As it turns out, a full 9.5s faster than the ballistic Dodge Viper ACR, which back in 2017 under a privateer effort managed 7m 01.3s around the 20.6km loop. Porsche extrapolated that to 7m 05.8s as the time to beat around the longer 20.8km version of the track, gave in-house hot-shoe Jörg Bergmeister a big bowl of Weetabix and strapped him into the new 503bhp 992.2 GT3. As per The Rules, it was fitted with the Weissach Pack and wore road-legal M...

Phil Mickelson calls on US government to take action after PGA Tour star banned

Image
Phil Mickelson has urged the Department of Justice to "do your f****** job" following the suspension of Wesley Bryan by the PGA Tour for his participation in a LIV Golf event. Earlier this month LIV debuted 'The Duels,' a new format that paired six professionals from the Saudi-backed league with social media influencers. The teams of two competed in a nine-hole scramble event, which was exclusively broadcast on Grant Horvat's YouTube channel. The pairings included Sergio Garcia and George Bryan, Bubba Watson and Luke Kwon, Joaquin Niemann and Rick Shiels, Mickelson and Horvat, Dustin Johnson and Wesley Bryan, as well as Cameron Smith and Fat Perez. Alongside his PGA Tour career, 35-year-old Bryan has also become a content creator, teaming up with his brother to launch a YouTube channel that has seen a surge in popularity. With his playing status dwindling to just three event appearances in 2025, he has turned to his content creation side and taken part in two P...

Toni Kroos aims dig at Arsenal and issues warning ahead Real Madrid clash

Image
Toni Kroos believes Arsenal’s lack of Champions League heritage offers Real Madrid a chance of producing another stunning European comeback against Arsenal. A devastating second half display in last week’s first leg at the Emirates Stadium has put the Gunners in a commanding position, but not an unassailable one. Real have made a habit of coming back from the brink in Europe in recent seasons and an early goal at the Bernabeu on Wednesday would dramatically change the complexity of Arsenal’s assignment. Arsenal were eliminated at the quarter final stage last season following a tame second leg defeat against Bayern Munich and they haven’t been beyond the last eight since 2009. ‘The emotional factor will be a huge decider against Arsenal,’ recently retired former Real Madrid star Kroos told Einfach mal Luppen. The charts that show youngsters are rejecting the Left’s culture wars

Image
Generation Z, that enigmatic demographic of men and women born between 1997 and 2012 or so, have been presumed to hold wildly progressive views. In the stereotype of public imagination this is – or has been – a group that will go to the wall for net zero, dump a partner if their views on gender politics give them the “ick”, or leave any job that has the temerity to demand their presence in the office. Except it may not be true. A growing mass of evidence suggests that far from the Leftie snowflake cohort of lore, Gen Z are disparate in their politics and care about the same things older generations do – jobs, houses, security – more than culture wars or social issues. A landmark report from the John Smith Centre at Glasgow University, published this week, has added to this feeling. Working with the polling company Focaldata, the institute conducted 260 interviews with people aged 18 to 29, using those conversations to inform a 40-question poll of 2,039 young people across the cou...

Oil prices plunge as Trump slaps 104% tariffs on China

Image
Oil prices fell to their lowest level in four years. The escalation of the tariff war between the US and China may reduce demand in the world's two largest economies, reports Reuters. Futures for Brent crude oil fell by 3.8% to $60.4 per barrel. Futures for US West Texas Intermediate crude fell 4.1% to $57.1. Both contracts reached their lowest level since February 2021. Prices for Brent and WTI crude oil have been falling for five consecutive sessions since US President Donald Trump announced large-scale tariffs on most imports, sparking fears that the global trade war will undermine economic growth and affect fuel demand. President Donald Trump's 104% tariffs on goods from China went into effect on April 9. The tariffs increased by another 50% after Beijing refused to remove retaliatory duties on American goods by the deadline set by Trump. Beijing vowed not to give in to US blackmail after Trump threatened to impose an additional 50% tariff on Chinese goods if the country ...

England and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard targeted by Premier League club

Image
Frank Lampard has emerged as a target for a Premier League as he continues to rebuild his managerial career at Coventry City. Lampard’s managerial credentials were heavily scrutinised following difficult spells in charge of Chelsea and Everton. The ex-England midfielder is enjoying much more success at Championship side Coventry, putting the club in contention for promotion to the Premier League. Coventry were just 17th in the Championship, two points above the relegation places, when Lampard was appointed to replace club legend Mark Robins last November. With just a handful of games remaining, Lampard’s side are within a victory of the play-offs. CBS Sports Under Fire for Coach K Decision After Duke's Loss to Houston

Image
With a couple of minutes left in the Final Four game between the Duke Blue Devils and Houston Cougars, fans at home were gifted a look at legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski sitting in the crowd, watching as his former team led by nine points.  Over the next 2:15 on the clock, the Cougars mounted an 11-1 run and stole the victory, though, clinching a spot in the national championship game against the Florida Gators on Monday night.  It was an epic collapse for Duke, who turned the ball over multiple times in the final minutes and failed to stop Houston on the other end. One of the things that fans were most upset about after the fact, though, was that we didn't get a chance to see Coach K's reaction to the historic loss.  If you show someone at their highest, you may want to give a glimpse at their lowest, as well. That's at least the thinking from fans at home, who are in this for the entertainment aspect of things.  Of course, Coach K and anyone even remotely as...

Discovery of ancient garden beneath Jesus’ burial site backs up Biblical account

Image
Archaeologists digging under the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem have found signs of an ancient garden that align with biblical descriptions. Many Christians believe the church is where Jesus was buried and it continues to be a major pilgrimage site. Now, the discovery of 2,000 year-old olive trees and grapevines are believed to reflect accounts in the Gospel of John of where Jesus was crucified and laid to rest. “Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid,” the Gospel of John states. “The archaeobotanical findings have been especially interesting for us, in light of what is mentioned in the Gospel of John, whose information is considered written or collected by someone familiar with Jerusalem at the time,” Professor Francesca Romana Stasolla told the Times of Israel. “The Gospel mentions a green area between the Calvary and the tomb, and we identified these cultivated fields.” Excavations ...
